Learned this folding trick from @an_organized_life - Thanks Lauren!
Instagram post 17849132167669442 San Diego... I'll always love you. â
Instagram post 18076074601081224 Hands down the best purchase we have made for Ford in 2019...â
â
This little set transforms into a table and chairs (two chair heights), a little desk, a bench, step stools, and more. Ford was not eating well in his high chair because he hated being trapped. Once we let him seat himself at his own table his eating habits completely changed!â
Instagram post 18036234622209287 Now that the weather is cooling down I'm setting aside time to dust our ceiling fans. Dusting ceiling fans is pretty easy (wipe them down with a damp microfiber cloth) but if yours are super dusty, place a pillowcase around the blade first so it catches the dust as you wipe it off!â
â
When is the last time you cleaned your ceiling fan blades?â
Instagram post 17935665781308574 Do you have a lot of visitors during the holidays? How do you prep your home for guests?â
â
This is how we transform Ford's room into a "guest room."
â
Ikea stackable twin bed frames are placed side by side to make a king bed, water carafe on a table next to the bed, and if I'm on my a-game I buy extra bathroom supplies for under the bathroom sink.â  I buy flowers if I happen to see some at the grocery store when I stock up on groceries... That's it!
â
What are your favorite ways to welcome guests in your home?â
Instagram post 17913948796354371 It has been almost two months now since my husband and I got Lasik... NO REGRETS.â
â
I gave away the remnants of our contact solution collection to a colleague and next I'm going to donate our old glasses to the Lions Club.â
â
Obviously having perfect vision sans contacts/glasses is incredible, but it also feels good to no longer have to purchase contacts supplies.â
â
My husband and I agree that Lasik was our best purchase of 2019 hands down. Any other Lasik veterans agree?
Instagram post 17869101322491883 The best way to dry silk after hand washing? Roll it in a towel! Silk is so fragile you don't want to wring it out, lay the wet fabric on a thick towel and roll the towel to remove excess moisture before air drying your silk item flat.â
â
Do you wash your silk by hand? Or do you risk the delicates cycle? 😈
Instagram post 17856850618559989 Earlier this week I shared one of my favorite clothing brands for basics like t-shirts (@organicbasics), but when it comes to trendier items, my favorite eco-friendly way to shop is in thrift or second-hand stores. â
â
My best tips for shopping second hand:â
1) Take inventory of what you currently own/needâ
2) Shop one department at a timeâ
3) Keep an open mind - don't be afraid to pull it off the shelf and look it overâ
4) Try everything onâ
5) When in doubt, take a selfie... of every angle - sounds obnoxious but it's a helpful test to determine whether or not something is flattering...â
7) Ignore price tags - don't distract yourself until you have found your winners!â
8) Will you actually get that tailored? - if there is even a shadow of doubt, don't buy itâ
9) Check cleaning labels & wash before wearing - if it smells leave it behind (not worth it and sometimes not possible to eliminate weird odors)
10) Browse regularly - the more you go, the better you get, and the more chances you have at finding treasures!â
Instagram post 17863003660521675 One of my favorite basic clothing brands - @organicbasics! They are one of the few clothing brands that truly stands for sustainability. â
â
They also only work with factories who also ensure that their workplace is free of child labor and forced labor, their workers are surrounded in a safe working space, paid a living wage, offered employee perks like free lunch and childcare - and of course, they are treated with respect at all times.â
â
But what I might like most is the quality of their cotton clothing. Their basic white t-shirt is hands down the best white t-shirt I own - great crew neck fit, not too thin or see-through, enough stretch to be comfortable... I also love their triangle bra - soft, comfortable, and pretty great for breast feeding if that's a journey you're on right now. I have them in multiple colors 😉
â
If you're in the market for new basics to add to your wardrobe, check them out (linked in my "sustainability" highlight). â
